I leaned in to whisper into his ear. I might have been angry at Plutus for everything, but I did know that there were things beyond our control. I understood it, but I didn’t have to like it or accept it. I did decide to give Plutus this peace offering, to let him know that I’d be okay, at least for now. And I wanted to assure Paul, even if it was just his subconscious, that somewhere, his father was thinking about him, that he was worried about him.

Reese Stephens was born in the Appalachian Mountains, but was raised all over the East Coast. Since getting married Reese has settled back into her Appalachian roots, and currently lives on a small farm with her husband and three children. She has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education, and is currently homeschooling her two school aged children. She considers herself a naturalist. “Something the matter?”

“Headache. Sorry.”

“You didn’t meet me for coffee. I was afraid you’d changed your mind.” His eyes locked with hers and they stopped moving. Her breath locked in her chest and all she could do was stare at his full and supremely kissable lips.

Why couldn’t she form a coherent thought other than the dirty ones infiltrating her mind? Her wolf wanted him to throw her to the ground, tear off her jeans and mount him. Right here. Right now. She glanced down to find the hard ridge of his arousal evident against his jeans and she swallowed, her fingers itching to work the zipper and feel him against her palm.

What the hell was wrong with her?

“Mmm hmm.” He leaned forward and brushed his lips against hers. “It is.”

His lips were soft and full and she wanted more. The piney scent of him reminded her of the surrounding woods and for a moment, she let the wolf inside her run free and lifted her face to his as he captured her lips again.

I am 100% panster so when I sat at the computer with one scene in mind, Keri scrolling through her newsfeed and grumbling “bah humbug” over the ‘Christmas in July’ propaganda, I had absolutely NO idea where the story was going or what would happen.

I was introduced to Energy Medicine a couple of years ago and find the whole concept of healing the body – or actually the body healing itself by correcting energy imbalance–fascinating. Along with EM, I’ve discovered the power of positive thoughts and prayers (see: You can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay). Add to that my belief in the afterlife and the books & movies affirming those beliefs, and well, this story practically wrote itself.

 What is so amazing and encouraging for me is that Keri’s Christmas Wish is the first romantic story I’ve written in its entirety since my husband passed away in 2009. Oh, I’ve had things published that were already in the works, but other than a couple NF pieces, it is the only thing written from start to finish. Hopefully this means I’m in a much better place emotionally and other books/novellas/stories are sure to follow.
