I’ve done things I’m ashamed of. I’ve stolen. I’ve lied. I’ve even taken a life or two. But what I have to do next makes all that look like random acts of kindness.

Finding Dee’s murderer trumps all, no matter what the cost, even bonding myself to Hross until death do us part. Give up Max? Check. Break his heart? Yeah, that too.

But putting Max’s life in danger was never, ever part of the plan.

I have one chance to make everything right, once and for all. And I only have one shot at it, because what I’m about to do requires the ultimate sacrifice: my life.

About the author:

melissa lummis

Melissa Lummis considers herself a truth seeker, a paranormal and fantasy writer, an avid reader, a thru-hiker, a Penn Stater, and a free thinker. She believes the universe conspires to help an adventurer. And if we live our lives as if it is a daring adventure (and it is!), then everything we need will find its way to us.

Her books have been described as new age suspense in a fantasy setting, but they are also straight up, steamy Paranormal Romance. The Love and Light Series is currently available at most ebook retailers, as is the Little Flame Series, a spin off focusing on the character Fiamette from the Love and Light world.

She lives in rural Virginia with her husband, two children, an Alaskan Malamute, and a myriad of forest creatures. The nature of her mind dictates that she write to stay sane. Otherwise, her fertile imagination takes off on tangents of its own accord, creating scenarios and worlds that confuse the space-time continuum. Namaste, dear friends.

Excerpt:
Football. The imbecile didn’t even realize it was the soccer field. The football team practiced halfway across campus. “Something like that,” she said with amusement, longing to see his reaction to her plans. Stepping back from the trunk, she turned to fully face him. Her eyes roved over his face for a moment before she closed the small distance between them. She slipped her arms around his waist and leaned in against his chest. She amped up her flirting to the next level, wanting him to let his guard down completely. “Before we get started … kiss me. I want to know what your lips feel like against mine. I want to know what you taste like.”
Without any hesitation, he lowered his lips over hers.
And that was when Sasha pulled back with a snort. “Alec was right. You have absolutely no idea what it’s like being friends with a girl. You went into this with the instruction of ‘friends only’. Yet you’re trying to kiss me ten minutes in.” Shaking her head, she grabbed the edges of her sundress and pulled it up over her head. Underneath, she wore a sports bra and a pair of bike shorts. From the trunk, she produced a pair of knee-high socks and cleats.
Matt took a step back, looking thoroughly stunned.
She turned her back on him, reaching into her trunk for her soccer ball as she hid her smile. It really was a shame: Matt was a charismatic guy, and he was so darn good-looking. He was into sports, same as her, and they shared a close confidant in Alec. If she could just get him to break down his walls and drop his act, there was a possibility they truly could be friends. His adaption to the change in plans now would tell her just how likely that outcome could be.
She roughly tossed the ball in his direction, and he barely managed to catch it. Apparently, he was still working through confusion and surprise at her abrupt change of attitude. She would just need to help him along to a more modern way of thinking. “You know, the majority of us don’t discuss lip gloss,” Sasha said with a snicker, referring to a tidbit Alec had shared of Matt’s skewed views on women. “If you’d ever bothered to hold a real conversation with a girl, you’d know that.” She bent at the waist and threw her hair down toward the ground. Gathering it in one hand, she bundled it all together in a high ponytail atop her head.
Flipping back up to face him, she placed her hands on her hips. “Game on, Matty. Time to learn what it’s like to actually hang out with a girl.” Ticking items off on her fingers, she made a list of all the things they wouldn’t be doing. “No candlelight dinners. No kissing. No eyelash batting. No flirting. I’m going to kick your ass out on that field, and make you question everything you know about women.”

Can they strike love again?
At nineteen, Clara Graves left Necessity, Texas, to try to heal her broken heart. She swore she would never come back, and she's kept that promise for ten years. Until now. When she returns for her uncle's funeral, she inherits a small oil company that may keep her tied to Necessity for a few days longer than she expected. But as soon as she can close or sell the business, she's pointing her boots toward greener pastures.
To this day, Mitchell MacAllan regrets letting Clara go without a fight. But his whole life was in Necessity, and leaving town wasn't in the cards. As the foreman of Aerio Oil and Gas, he works hard to keep the townspeople employed and maintain the business, despite a recent downturn in petroleum prices.
Now Mac has less than a week to convince Clara that she should give Aerio a chance, and maybe even forgive him in the meantime. Otherwise, she will once again be leaving Necessity--and taking his heart with her, this time for good.
Leaving Necessity is also available in the Come Love a Cowboy Anthology

Excerpt
I had forgotten how big the sky is here.
Clara moved to the side of the caliche road, sidestepping several larger rocks in order to make her way to the edge of the small oil field—the ‘oil patch,’ Mitch had called it. Drawing in a deep breath, she could smell the dust and mesquite, even over the scent of the gas that hissed out of the pressure valve Mitch let go.
The orange rays of the sunset shot out from behind a distant limestone hill, streaking the clouds above with golden light. When she drew her eyes back down to the ground, everything seemed a little darker.
She couldn’t help but compare it to her life in New York. Despite the rhythmic sound of the compressor running the cricket-head well pump behind her, there was a sense of peace out here that came from being truly alone.
Or at least, as alone as she could manage with another person around.
Especially if that other person was Mitchell MacAllan.
Something about him still attracted her. Not necessarily physically—though that was still in the mix. No, it was the way they slipped into simply being in one another’s company, as if the last ten years hadn’t even happened.

Prince of the Playhouse
(Love in Laguna #3)
By Tara Lain

Blurb:

Driven by his desire to become a successful fashion designer and concerned with hiding his questionable past, Ru Maitland lets his obsession with action movie star Gray Anson on the big screen replace his social life. Then obsession and reality collide when Ru is asked to design fashion costumes for a special performance of Hamlet at the Playhouse in Laguna starring none other than Gray Anson. Gray turns out to be a compelling mix of shy and brash and, despite a high profile engagement to a female socialite, the signals Gray sends Ru have his libido doing the salsa.

Gray Anson has what most people only dream of—great wealth, huge fame, a job he loves. For that, he’s given up any semblance of privacy and the right to say no to the thousands of people who depend on him and the millions who love him. He sees everything he’s ever wanted just outside the bubble of his life, but how can he make the compromises needed to embrace it? When Ru’s shady past crashes into Gray’s paparazzi-haunted present, both men have to learn that sometimes the only acceptable compromise is the truth.

Ru nodded and words blurted out. “I’d say you just bought and paid for the right to do most anything you want.”

Gray’s forehead creased for an instant, then smoothed again. “Okay, come with me.” Gray led the way through the crowd and stopped beside Chris. “I need to talk with Ru. We’ll be back in a few.”

“Sure thing, boss.” He turned to face the crowd as Gray pulled Ru through the doors that led to what could now officially be called Ru Maitland Designs. People crowded the halls. Gray muttered, “Well, hell.” He nodded and smiled as he kept exploring all the way back to Ru’s office. A couple of cameramen snapped pictures inside.

Ru snorted. “Had I known I was about to be preserved for posterity, I might have been neater.”

The last door led out to the parking lot behind Shazam. Gray glanced back at Ru. “Will an alarm go off if I open it?”

“Nope. It’s our secret exit.”

“Good.” He pushed down on the bar and opened the door, pulled Ru into the parking lot, and closed the doors behind them. He fished in his pocket and pulled out a key ring, then pushed a button. A chirp came from the black limo parked under the trees. He opened the back door, grabbed Ru’s arm, and pulled him inside with him. “Close the door.”

“Gray, I—”

“Close the damned door.”

Well, okay. He slammed the car door, closing them into a secret hiding place, barely illuminated through the heavy tinting on the windows. Ru turned toward Gray, who now full-on frowned. “Open your fly and lie back.”

“What? What the fuck are you talking about?”

“I’m going to give you a blowjob. You said I bought the right to do anything I want, and that’s what I want.”

“Fuuuuuck me.” The words came out on a long, slow breath.

“We can do that too, but we’re a little short on time, so a blowjob is more practical.”

“Are you always practical?”

He gazed directly at Ru. “When you’re a gay man in the biggest, deepest closet in the world, you pretty much have to be. So unzip.”

“Hang on. You can’t just—”

“I can’t? I thought you said I could.”

Ru frowned back at him.

“Oh, you mean we might have something to talk about? Maybe I didn’t just spend a ton of money to buy sex from you? Is there a chance of that?”
